The Department of Conservation was alerted shortly after 2pm yesterday to a entangled whale seen off Kaikoura Peninsula DOC area manager Dave Hayes said. “DOC staff went to the entangled whale but due to windy and rough sea conditions and with only a few hours of daylight remaining it was unsafe to attempt to cut it free.
